So with my always supportive husband maintaining the status quo at home... I got to spend a couple of days reflecting on my role as a mother and learning about ways I can do it even better. We got to meet at a beautiful home that was set at the edge of one of the most amazing lakes I've ever seen. This retreat brought together women from all over the country. But we all have one thing in common... we all want to be the best mother we can be for our families. It was so refreshing to gather with other women who are passionate about being great mothers. I came home with so many ideas, desires and wants for my family.
My biggest take aways were...
* How important it is to create a family culture. That you have to do so with intention. It will take some work, but it will be so worth it. We need to protect our family time. This culture is the glue that bonds you together.
* Remembering the importance of traditions. I've talked about some of our family traditions here, but I came home with so many more ideas. I am excited to implement a lot of these. We were told we need to "foster moments of joy". Love that.
*Mind Organization for Mom's. I'm excited to implement this. I've tried lots of systems to get organized. This one just makes sense.

* Enjoy motherhood and have fun! For the most part, I do this. But it can get stressful around here at times. I need to remember to laugh through the hard stuff. Because it isn't going to last forever.
I left the retreat uplifted and inspired. There was a wonderful feeling, an energy, that I left with. I wish I could bottle it up and give to all my family and friends in this season of life.
The retreat was the main course, but the scenery was dessert. I loved seeing all the trees displaying so many vibrant colors. Fall always reminds me pause and reflect... evaluate how far I've come. How much I have changed over the years. It helps me appreciate the maturity that has come with age.
I love being a mother. The greatest compliment my kids can give me one day, would be to say "My mother had the greatest job on earth. She loved what she got to do every day."

I love Power of Moms. We work with them at Startup Princess. That location looks so beautiful. I wish I knew about it and I could have come to see you and call it "business". Glad you were able to go! Heart!
And seriously...SO BEAUTIFUL. The leaves changing colors, the water...To. Die. For. I had to come back for that.
Sarah: It was so wonderful to meet you at the Retreat! I loved seeing the beautiful photos you took and learning a bit about what you took away from the Retreat. I'm excited to keep in touch!
